A lighthouse keeper has gone missing on the Kuril Island of Shumshu. The man's generator failed, and he made an independent decision to move to another lighthouse.
Two employees of the search and rescue squad named after him have gone out to search for the man. Earlier, employees of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued climbers on Elbrus. The climbers were rescued by a police officer and a snowmobile. The rescue operation has been called off, and the climbers have been taken to safety.
