A fire broke out in New Taipei City, Taiwan, causing the stench to spread. Some residents had asthma attacks and sought medical treatment.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wanan also recommended that citizens close doors and windows and wear masks when going out. Affected people are advised to temporarily close doors, wear masks and avoid staying outdoors for long periods of time to reduce respiratory and eye discomfort. The fire was temporarily extinguished at 6:31 p.m., but until late at night on the 20th, the basement was still filled with thick smoke and stench.
