A court in Moscow arrested Panin in absentia in the case of calls for terrorism. In May, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put Panin on the wanted list.
In November 2023, Panin published a photo on his social networks in which he stands with a US passport in his hands against the background of the Ukrainian flag. In August of the same year, the Moscow prosecutor's office would conduct an investigation into actor Alexei Panin for public calls for terrorist activities on the Internet.
