A court in Abkhazia explained the release of a man convicted of raping a Russian woman. The rapist was sentenced to nine years because he was a minor at the time of the crime.

Edgar Abukhba had to serve 4.5 years out of nine years, and this term ended on February 2. Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned citizens about the risks when traveling to Abkhazeria after information about the release in the republic of a rapist. It was reported that his sentence was commuted.
