Philippine Coast Guard says one of its ships was damaged after it collided with another belonging to the Chinese Coast Guard. There were conflicting reports regarding responsibility for the accident between the two parties.

This is the second incident of its kind since last December, when Chinese ships used water cannons against Philippine military boats. The incident took place in a disputed part of the South China Sea, the Chinese coast guard said in a statement on March 5. The two ships were deployed to support the rotation and resupply operation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the region.
