28 Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to President Barack Obama.

The letter called for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza conflict. It also called for the creation of a permanent peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. It was the latest in a series of letters from members of Congress to Obama's administration. They have been critical of the president's handling of the crisis in the Middle East, particularly in regards to the Gaza war. They said that Obama's response to the crisis has been too slow and insufficient.
