Thousands of Israeli nationalists paraded on Thursday in Jerusalem to mark the so-called Jerusalem Day. Participants have been heard chanting "death to Arabs" and Israeli media reported that stones and bottles have been thrown at journalists present.

The celebration commemorates Israel's victory in the 1976 Six-Day War and the subsequent occupation of East Jerusalem. For the Palestinians, it constitutes a provocation aimed at undermining their ties to the city. Two years ago, violence on Jerusalem Day degenerated into eleven days of unrest.
