Andreas Brehme scored the winning goal for Germany in the 1990 World Cup final in Rome against Argentina. He recalls what was going through his head in the decisive 85th minute.

“For a footballer, being world champion is the greatest title he can win,” he says. ‘Unfortunately the Argentinians were very defensive and ruined the game. They wanted to take the decision to penalties. Nevertheless, we were overjoyed and proud after the end of the game,’ he adds.
