100,000 Israelis were displaced by the war, and some of them do not want to return to the border areas. The occupation authorities evacuated residents of many settlements around the Gaza Strip, and evacuated 28 border towns with Lebanon since last October 8.

More than 500 homes, buildings and shops were damaged in settlements in northern Israel, and the direct damage was concentrated in the town of Shlomi in the west and Kiryat Shmona in the Galilee. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously said that Israel could not bear about 100,000 displaced persons within their country.
