Since 2013, the number of cases accepted by courts across China has increased by an average of 13% annually. Procuratorates across the country handled a total of 4.253 million cases of various types last year, a year-on-year increase of 28.9%.

The value of judicial adjudication is not only to settle disputes but also to lead the progress of the rule of law by establishing behavioral norms and conveying value orientation. This year’s “Two Highs” report lists a number of landmark cases.
