Canadian singer of Moroccan origins, Lazara, accused the French delegation and France Television of practicing racism against her because of her origins. Activists and bloggers were divided across social media platforms, between one denouncing the incident and expressing solidarity with the artist.
Another attacking her and accusing her of fabricating rumors only to justify her failure in the competition and her ranking in 16th place. The France Television Complex refused to make any comment to the Le Parisien newspaper, but it strongly denied these accusations, which it described as defamatory.
