Moldova's President Maia Sandu wants to enshrine in the Constitution the results of the referendum on Moldova’s accession to the EU. The referendum will be held in the fall along with the election of the head of state.
The opposition forces of Moldova called the referendum illegal and called on citizens to boycott it. Political scientists note that Sandu thus wants to deprive the citizens of Moldovan of the opportunity to choose the course of the country and make European integration without alternative.
