Several thousand teachers and other education personnel, on strike, demonstrated on Thursday to raise awareness about their working conditions, their salaries and to defend public schools. 20.26% of teachers were on strike Thursday according to ministry figures.
“The catalyst for our anger is clearly the declarations of Ms. Oudéa-Castéra, which we experience as a provocation addressed to public schools,” says Sophie Vénétitay, general secretary of Snes. Elsewhere in France, at least 1,600 people demonstrated on Friday.
