The North Atlantic Alliance opened the first air base in Albania. The airfield is located in the city of Kucova, 80 km from Tirana.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the facility is necessary to counter the “neo-imperialist ambitions” of Russia. According to experts, the airbase will be used to increase military pressure on Russia and Serbia. The base in Kučov will be directed not only against Russia, but also against Serbia.
