Negotiations aimed at cessation of fighting will resume in Qatar on the 17th. Hamas has proposed a plan in which Israel would release between 700 and 1,000 Palestinians held in prison in exchange for Hamas releasing women and elderly hostages.
Once the hostages are released and both sides agree on a cease-fire schedule, Hamas will proceed with the release of more hostages. In the Gaza Strip, many children are suffering from malnutrition due to severe food shortages. The focus will be on whether resuming negotiations will lead to improvements in the humanitarian situation.
