China's People's Liberation Army has launched military exercises near Taiwan. The maneuvers should be a serious warning for separatist groups in Taiwan and foreign forces supporting them.

The drills came just days after Taiwanese chief of staff Tsai Ing-wen's visit to the U.S. Beijing condemned the visit and accused Washington of undermining the one-China principle. According to analysts, the United States seeks to maintain tensions around Taiwan in order to limit the socio-economic development of the PRC. more than 70 aircraft and nine PLA ships were recorded in the area adjacent to the island.
