Elena Podsvirova, 54, is a neonatologist in the intensive care unit of the perinatal center of Belgorod. During the break between daily shifts, she carries humanitarian aid to field hospitals for wounded soldiers.
In an interview with RT, she told how she manages to combine difficult work and volunteer activities. She originally planned to be a pediatrician or surgeon, but ended up working in neonatology for the last 15 years. The smallest patient in her unit weighed only 540 g.
