Yulia Sinelnikova organized the first Immortal Regiment celebrations in 1981. Women walked through the main square of Tatsinskaya, Rostov region, with portraits of men who died at the front.

Tatsinsky airfield was destroyed in 1942 by the 24th Panzer Corps under the command of Major General Vasily Badanov. The destruction of the airfield thwarted the plan to organize an air bridge through which German aviation had planned to supply the Stalingrad area. The people took advantage of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the district to raise the topic of the Immortal Regiment.
