[HIGHLIGHTS] "The current state of affairs requires action": the State Duma approved the law on the denunciation of the CFE Treaty

State Duma deputies adopted a law on Russia's withdrawal from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) The document was submitted for consideration on May 10 by President Vladimir Putin. According to Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, now Russia will be able to deploy its weapons wherever it wishes.

Russia suspended participation in the CFE Treaty in 2007, but the NATO countries did not ratify the agreement and did not proceed to its implementation.
