On April 4, a parking lot in New York, USA, partially collapsed, causing cars to pile up. The collapse killed one person instantly, while five others were injured.

Because the collapsed parking lot was close to Pace University, the university carried out a personnel evacuation and announced the cancellation of classes at its New York campus. Another Pace student recalled that the collapse "felt like an earthquake had occurred—as violent as if it was cracking from the inside of the earth" It is unclear why the accident occurred. Engineers are performing structural stability checks on the building.
