65 years ago, the Soviet authorities approved a decree on the creation of a combat missile defense system. It was decided to deploy an umbrella against American nuclear weapons over Moscow.

The stationary system was named A-35. It included firing complexes, a long-range radar and a command and computing post. Subsequently, it was repeatedly improved. The crowning achievement of this evolution was the A-135 system, which took up combat duty in 1995. Along with this, the Russian troops receive mobile complexes S-500 "Prometheus", which perform the functions of missile defense.
