The Council of State has ordered the French government to take new measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The new measures must be in place by June 30, 2024, according to the decision.
The decision was made by the High Court of Justice in Paris, which also ruled in favor of the city of Paris. The court said the new measures were not enough to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement on greenhouse gas reduction. The French government says it will take further steps to reduce emissions in the coming years.
