On May 5, the State Council issued an approval from the Ministry of Civil Affairs to expand the "cross-province application" pilot for marriage registration of mainland residents. The pilot project will be implemented in 18 provinces, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Shaanxi and Ningxia.
