The UAE and Hungary discuss prospects for cooperation in the space sector

Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the Emirates Space Agency, discussed with a high-level delegation from the Republic of Hungary, headed by Dr. Orsbia Ferenc, Ministerial Commission for Space Research at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, ways to enhance space cooperation between the two friendly countries and strengthen relations in the fields of space research, Earth observation, uses of technology and exchange Knowledge.

This came during a meeting held at the Hungarian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, on the sidelines of the Space Week hosted by the World Expo, in partnership with the Emirates Space Agency.

The talks also dealt with several topics, including Hungary's plans to send an astronaut to the International Space Station by 2024, and its plan to launch a scientific satellite, in addition to developing a measurement system on board this satellite with the aim of installing it on the International Space Station. The two sides also discussed the project that The UAE recently announced it to explore the planet Venus and the asteroid belt.

Salem Al Qubaisi said, "The consolidation of international relations in the field of space is one of the most important priorities of the Emirates Space Agency as part of efforts to transfer knowledge and experiences with international space institutions, given the importance of this in the continuation of the growth and prosperity process of the national space sector, pointing out that there are many opportunities for space cooperation between The UAE and Hungary, especially in the fields of satellites and space research, which will benefit the space sector in both countries.
