"Taking into account the relatively low collection of the transport tax and the indexation of the excise tax on fuel, the abolition of the transport tax is a constructive measure designed to more equitably distribute the burden of financing the costs of building and repairing roads, eliminate excessive taxation of certain categories of citizens, and stimulate the purchase of more environmentally friendly vehicles" , - the document says.
In mid-July, Yevgeny Fedorov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes, proposed to exempt car owners from transport tax in the event of a car idle for more than six months. In his appeal, the legislator recalled that at present in Russia the amount of the transport tax does not depend on the intensity of vehicle operation.
In early August, the editor-in-chief of Za Ruleom, Maxim Kadakov, assessed in an interview with Nation News the proposal of State Duma deputy Vasily Vlasov to abolish the transport tax on domestic cars.
