A reporter asked about the Canadian government's announcement to prohibit the use of Huawei and ZTE products and services in Canada's telecommunications system on the grounds of so-called "national security".
Wang Wenbin: Canada's move completely violates the principles of market economy and free trade rules, and seriously damages the rights and interests of Chinese companies.
He said that China will conduct a comprehensive and serious assessment of this and take all necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
