Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, ex-world No. 5 today 52nd, is forced to end his 2020 season and will therefore not play Roland-Garros, due to a persistent injury in the pelvis, has t he announced Wednesday on social networks.

"I have a problem with my sacroiliac and my iliacs, with bone edemas and persistent inflammation. (...) Unfortunately, this year Roland-Garros and the entire 2020 season (are compromised) for me. J "I would have loved to be one of the players on the starting grid. Unfortunately, that is not the case," Tsonga said in a video posted on his Twitter account.

The Roland-Garros tournament has exceptionally been rescheduled for the fall (September 27-October 11) due to the Covid-19.

"But I still have the morale, the rage, the desire and the motivation to come back in 2021, hoping that it evolves positively," adds the 35-year-old.

Before the coronavirus pandemic crippled world tennis between early March and early August, Tsonga had only played - and lost - two matches in 2020, in Doha and at the Australian Open in January.
