Tension is at its height between the United States and China after Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

The head of the American deputies went this week to this independent island but claimed by Beijing, which reacted by deploying major military maneuvers, condemned by Washington.

Beijing raises its voice, Washington responds.

After the visit of the leader of the American deputies, Nancy Pelosi, in Taiwan, China deployed the largest military exercises in its history near the independent island but ardently claimed by Beijing.

At the same time, China announced the suspension of its cooperation with the United States in several key sectors, such as the fight against global warming.

A behavior that Washington regrets and denounces.

"China's actions punish the whole world", believes the White House, because "climate change knows no borders".

Beyond the climate talks, Beijing also canceled an interview with US military officials.

An unfounded reaction, according to White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre: "China's actions at this time are fundamentally irresponsible. There is no need and no reason for this escalation. Nothing has changed. in our one China policy".

The United States refuses to cut the dialogue

Washington also summoned the Chinese ambassador to the United States to denounce the ongoing military exercises around Taiwan.

No question, on the other hand, of cutting off the dialogue on the American side.

"We are keeping our lines of communication with Beijing open," the White House said.

Last week, Joe Biden and Xi Jinping agreed on the principle of a meeting in person, the first between the two heads of state.

Discussions are more than necessary, according to the UN, which considers it impossible to solve the most pressing problems of the world without effective dialogue and cooperation between China and the United States.
