The Indian government of Narendra Modi does not budge: the Rohingyas are illegal immigrants whom he intends to return to their country of origin, despite the risks that weigh on their lives.
The Supreme Court was considering the case of one of them this Friday, March 26, and the executive took the opportunity to reiterate its position on the issue.

Since 2017, members of the Rohingya Muslim community have fled en masse the persecution they have suffered in
Burma
.
They are said to be at least 6,500 in
India
, detained in particular in camps in the state of Jammu.
This Friday, the highest institution in the country examined the asylum application of the refugee Mohammad Salimullah.
The man is supported by famous lawyer Prashant Bhushan, who demands that India grant papers to all Rohingyas.
But for the government, “
India cannot be the capital of illegal immigration
”.
The Rohingyas are, he said, a threat to the security of the nation and
should therefore be expelled.
The Supreme Court for its part postponed its judgment.

In his plea, the lawyer recalled that this deportation was contrary to the Indian Constitution and international law.
This, in view of the violence and murders of which the Rohingyas are victims in Burma.
A United Nations rapporteur was present, but was not allowed to speak.
“
They risk being massacred, but we cannot stop it,
” said the head of the Supreme Court.
India will, however, have to establish the Burmese nationality of the Rohingya before returning them.
