Berlin / Potsdam (dpa / bb) - After the cold days with a lot of rain and sometimes even snow, the temperatures on the weekend climb to summery values.

According to the forecast of the German Weather Service (DWD) for Berlin and Brandenburg it will be up to 16 degrees on Saturday, up to 27 degrees on Sunday and even up to 29 degrees on Monday.

The reason for the steep rise is warm air that pulls into Germany from Spain and the Mediterranean region.

On Friday morning, for example, the temperatures in Potsdam had temporarily dropped to almost freezing point when a low moved towards Poland and temporarily caused snowfall.

On Saturday, however, it should stay dry, while clouds move over the region in the afternoon and evening.

From Sunday in particular, people can look forward to lots of sun and drought.

The midsummer weather only stays in the region for a short time: The DWD weather trend suggests heavy precipitation for Tuesday and especially on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, temperatures could fall below 20 degrees again.
