10 October 2020 An "energy transition is needed: a gradual but immediate replacement of fossil fuels with clean energy sources".
Pope Francis says this in the video message to the TED-Countdown, a global digital event for immediate solutions in response to the climate crisis.
"We have a few years, scientists calculate approximately less than thirty - says the Pope - to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere". And "one way to foster this change is to lead businesses towards the urgent need to commit themselves to the integral care of the common home, excluding from investments those companies that do not meet the parameters of integral ecology and rewarding those who concretely work in this transition phase to place parameters such as sustainability, social justice and the promotion of the common good at the center of their activities ".
