Biathlete Quentin Fillon Maillet, double Olympic champion (individual and pursuit) and five-time medalist, will be France's flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Olympics on Sunday evening in Beijing, the French delegation announced on Friday evening.

An honor that also rewards the entire French biathlon team.

Indeed, with seven medals in China, she achieves her best total, ahead of the six medals in Vancouver in 2010. Quentin Fillon Maillet, the relays, or the silver of Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet and the gold of Justine Braisaz- Bouchet, back to the Games of our Biathlon Blues in pictures.

  • From February 1, Quentin Fillon Maillet sends bursts of balls into the targets in training, at the National Biathlon Center before the Olympic Games.

He doesn't look like he's here on vacation...

  • On February 5, the mixed French biathlon relay at the Beijing Olympics keeps all its promises on the windy site of Zhangjiakou!

  • At stake, a silver medal for our Blues: Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet, Emilien Jacquelin, Julia Simon and Quentin Fillon Maillet.

    The medal counter is unlocked!

  • Two days later, we find Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet in the individual event for women.

  • The Frenchwoman becomes Olympic vice-champion of the individual (15 km), beaten by nine seconds by the German Denise Herrmann.

A beautiful silver medal and a beautiful smile!

  • On February 8, Quentin Fillon Maillet won the first gold medal for the French delegation at the Beijing Olympics by winning the individual (20 km) for men.

He receives his medal the next day, hand on heart.

  • Three days later, we find the 29-year-old from the Jura in the sprint event (10 km).

  • Quentin Fillon Maillet pocketed the silver medal, behind the Norwegian Johannes Boe, his brother Tarjei taking third place.

Yes, guys are used to bumping into each other on biathlon podiums.

  • The next day, Quentin Fillon Maillet continues his walk in the forest while sniping the targets in his path!

  • Starting in second position 26 seconds behind the Norwegian Johannes Boe, the Frenchman cleared all the targets and pocketed his second Olympic gold medal.

  • Two days later, France was the favourite, with the Boe brothers' Norway, and the Russian team, in the men's relay.

  • The French Fabien Claude, Emilien Jacquelin, Simon Desthieux and Quentin Fillon Maillet take second place, behind the Norwegians and ahead of the Russians.

This is the fifth medal for Quentin Fillon Maillet, and the sixth for the French biathlon team.

    Vancouver record in 2010 equaled.

  • On February 18, the French Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, 25, took the lead after the third shot, fatal to many competitors blown away by the wind, during the women's mass-start.

  • After having dropped Roeiseland on skis, the Frenchwoman approaches her final passage on the shooting range without trembling, and despite a fault, she goes alone towards gold!

With this seventh medal in China, the French biathlon achieves its best total, driven by the locomotive Quentin Fillon Maillet which will however finish fourth in the men's mass-start.
