In her first comment, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel described what is happening around Ukraine as "a turning point in the history of Europe after the end of the Cold War," according to "Russia Today".
"The Russian war of aggression represents a profound turning point in the history of post-Cold War Europe," Merkel was quoted as saying by German news agency DPA on Friday, describing Moscow's actions as a violation of international law and condemning them "in the strongest terms."
It is noteworthy that Merkel was chancellor of Germany at the time of the 2014 coup in Ukraine, and then the Minsk agreements were concluded to resolve the conflict in Donbass.
