  This year, no ice rink or Ferris wheel, but a giant gift package on the Place de la Comédie, and the return of the Hivernales.

• The royal place of Peyrou is also entitled to its animations, with scenes inspired by the polar universe, or the house of Father Christmas.

This year again, for a month, the city will shine with a thousand lights.

The city puts the package on the Comedy

The “beating heart”, installed last year on the Comédie to pay tribute to caregivers, is replaced this year by a giant gift package, which is still being installed, and about which little is known.

The 14-meter-high tree, illuminated in Christmas colors, is, however, already present, like last year, in front of the opera house.

Illuminations will also be present throughout the Ecusson, but in order to meet an "objective of sustainable development and cost control, the city will use low-consumption lighting for the decorations", she explains.

The Christmas market is back

After a year without a Christmas market, due to the Covid-19, the Hivernales are back on the Charles-de-Gaulle esplanade. Until December 26, some 90 chalets will house traders and artisans: a chocolate maker, a maker of gingerbread, macaroons, candied fruit, candies, master santonniers, ceramists, cutlers, makers of jewelry, etc. No ice rink or Ferris wheel this year, but several Christmas-themed rides for the little ones are installed on the market, with tickets of 2 to 3 euros. A parade will stroll through the market and the Ecusson on December 12, and Santa Claus will take a little tour in his carriage on the 19th. Finally, as every year, a Languedoc nativity scene, created by Jacques Prouget, master santonnier in Saint-Guilhem- le-Désert, will be presented to visitors.

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. until December 26 (except December 25).

Nocturnes on Friday and Saturday until 10:30 p.m.

In Peyrou too, we celebrate Christmas

Long forgotten during the holidays, the Peyrou is entitled, once again, to its own decorations for Christmas.

From December 2 to January 2, visitors will be able to discover giant decorations around New Year's Eve, the polar universe, the house of Santa Claus and sweets, in four glazed chalets.

A plant labyrinth, and two illuminated trees 8 meters high will complete the activities of the Place Royale.
