Köthen (dpa / sa) - A major fire has destroyed a company premises and an adjacent residential building in Köthen.
The fire broke out on the premises in the Arensdorf district early on Wednesday evening for an initially unexplained cause, the police said on Thursday.
There the fire also hit a company building with three apartments and spread to the neighboring single-family house.
The fire brigade was able to prevent it from spreading to another residential building.
A resident came to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, and two firefighters suffered minor burns during the extinguishing work.
The fire brigade was still busy with remaining extinguishing work on Thursday morning.
Investigators assumed that the fire site will not be accessible for several days due to the heat.

The emergency services organized accommodation for the residents of the completely burned-out family house and the three apartments on the company premises.
