Very complicated evening for Lyon: reduced to ten after a quarter of an hour and led, OL finally drew against Lorient (1-1), Saturday at home during the 8th day of Ligue 1, during a meeting that left traces among the Lyonnais.

In the 15th minute, Brazilian defender Emerson was sent off after inadvertently touching the foot of Enzo Le Fee (15th) in the race, while at the same time Belgian central back Jason Denayer was injured.

The latter should therefore withdraw Thursday in the Europa League against the Danes of Brondby and probably for the derby in Saint-Etienne, on October 3, a match for which Emerson will be automatically suspended.

On the free kick awarded for the fault of the Brazilian, Armand Laurienté gave the advantage to the Merlus with a strike in the skylight (1-0, 20th).

Triple penalty for the Lyonnais, condemned to then evolve in numerical inferiority for an hour and a quarter.

But OL have always sought to play forward to snatch the equalizer or even win.

Under the impetus of their Brazilian duo, Paquetà-Bruno Guimaraes, Lyon managed to get back to the mark at the start of the second half with a goal from Karl Toko-Ekambi after a one-two with the Algerian Islam Slimani, who entered at half-time (51).

A deserved equalization for OL who, however, suffered physically in the last half hour during which Lopes repelled a new free kick from Laurienté (61) before intervening against Stéphane Diarra (81) and on a shot from Igor Silva (85).

In added time, Terem Moffi was close to scoring the second goal of the Merlus on a cross delivered from the right (90 + 2).

For their part, the Lyonnais were dangerous on a shot from Guimaraes passing narrowly (58) or on a recovery from the head of Sinaly Diomandé at the reception of a corner (76), then on an attempt by Rayan Cherki diverted for a corner (79).

Paquetà, exhausted, missed the target at the conclusion of a raid in the Breton defense (89) before scoring at the end of added time a goal refused for offside (90 + 5).

A nightmare to the end!

This draw sounds like an accounting stop after a victory against Troyes (3-1) on Wednesday.

But OL displayed an irreproachable state of mind like the match against Paris, only lost on the wire (2-1).

The Lyonnais are seventh while Lorient confirms its good start to the season and its victory over Nice (1-0) on Wednesday, by temporarily moving to 4th place, one point behind Marseille (2nd) which plays Sunday against Lens.

If Emerson will be suspended at Saint-Etienne, he will nevertheless be able to play against Brondby, a match for which coach Peter Bosz will be forced to manage his squad.

Because, in addition to the unavailability of Denayer which is added to that of the striker Moussa Dembélé, for several weeks, he will have to determine the physical state in which is the defender Jérôme Boateng, out of the field very tested, while Slimani was also released from injury.
