Iranian Foreign Ministry: EU representative's visit to Iran will move Iran nuclear talks in the right direction
Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, May 9 (Reporter Wang Shoubao) Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Khatibzad said on the 9th that the European Union Coordinator and Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Agency Mora will pay a visit to Iran. The negotiation of the relevant parties to the JCPOA is moving in the right direction.
Khatibzad said at a regular press conference that day that Mora will hold talks with Iran's deputy foreign minister and chief negotiator on the Iranian nuclear issue, Bagheri, on the 11th.
Mora's visit will make the Iran nuclear talks move in the right direction.
Khatibzad said Iran has been negotiating with other parties to the nuclear deal and has reached an agreement on the text of the deal.
Iran and the United States continue to exchange information indirectly through EU representatives.
If the United States decides to return Iran's national rights, a deal on nuclear talks is possible after Mora's visit to Iran.
According to a report by the Guangming News Agency, which is affiliated to Iran's Supreme National Security Council, on the 7th, Mora will arrive in Iran on the 10th for a visit to advance the negotiations between the parties involved in the Iran nuclear deal.
In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.
Under the agreement, Iran pledged to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran.
In May 2018, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.
Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of some of the terms of the agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible".
The parties involved in the Iran nuclear deal will start negotiations in Vienna, the capital of Austria, in April 2021 to discuss the resumption of compliance between the United States and Iran, and the United States indirectly participates in the negotiations.
The eighth round of negotiations was launched in Vienna on December 27, 2021.
