The insolvent Hunsrück Airport Hahn was sold on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the insolvency administrator announced that Swift Conjoy GmbH had acquired him for an undisclosed sum.

The Frankfurt-based company will take over all employees and continue flight operations.

The insolvency administrator recently announced that it would be looking for and hiring staff.

"Flight operations at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport are developing positively, both in terms of passage and air freight," it said.

The airport in the Hunsrück, which is called Frankfurt-Hahn Airport for marketing reasons, filed for bankruptcy in October 2021.

The Chinese group HNA, which has also been ailing in the meantime, acquired 82.5 percent of the airport from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 2017 for around 15 million euros.

Hesse still holds 17.5 percent.
