The coronavirus pandemic has caused "  the most severe economic recession ever in almost a century,  " alerted the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in its latest report released on June 10. The decline is likely to be greatest in the euro area in particular. 

The whole world is suffering the full brunt of the economic consequences of the measures taken to combat Covid-19, responsible for more than 400,000 deaths in more than 7 million cases worldwide. In France, for example, where strict confinement of more than two months has been put in place, the debt should reach 120% of GDP (compared to 98% last year). But even in countries where containment measures have been relatively light, the economic and social consequences are significant.
