At its feet, 600 white crosses erected in homage to farmers who committed suicide this year.

In Sainte-Anne d'Auray, in Morbihan, a gesture of meditation was organized at the sanctuary on the occasion of the 6th Day of Prayer in memory of the farmers who left too early.

The initiative is to the credit of Jacques Jeffredo, son of a farmer and himself a market gardener.

Since 2015, this man has been fighting for society to tackle the issue of suicide among farmers.

That year, the agricultural mutual fund had identified 606 of them. "More than 600 farmers per year commit suicide, or about two people per day, the equivalent of four Airbus [crashed] per year", says the activist in his petition.

“This figure is more than three times higher than the average for other professional social categories,” says Jacques Jeffredo.
