On August 19, local time, Hurricane Grace landed on the Yucatan Peninsula in Progreso, Mexico, bringing heavy storms and rain.

  According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the storm hit the coast near Tecolétra, Veracruz, Mexico, with a maximum sustained wind speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

  According to reports, Veracruz and its waters are home to multiple oil facilities.

The Veracruz State Department of Civil Defense has suspended passenger car and passenger traffic in several areas, as well as the transportation of hazardous materials.

The red alert level has been activated in the northern and central regions of the state.
