The discussion focused mainly - it is reported - on the latest developments in the Afghan crisis and on possible fora for international cooperation to deal with it, including the G20.

President Draghi and President Xi also discussed the collaboration between the two countries both in view of the Rome Summit and on a bilateral level.

China hopes that the next G20 in Rome, scheduled for the end of October, will adhere to "true multilateralism", promote "the spirit of solidarity and cooperation to fight the epidemic, restore the world economy and promote inclusive and sustainable development" , broaden consensus, give the "right direction" to global governance and serve to "work together to tackle common challenges". This was stated by the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, quoted by the Chinese state television broadcaster, CCTV.

"China will continue to support Italy in its role in this regard and will support Italy in successfully hosting the G20 summit in Rome," said Xi.

China hopes that Italy will play an active role in promoting "the healthy and stable development of China-EU relations". This is what President Xi Jinping said in the telephone conversation, in the report of the state network CCTV.

China "appreciates Italy's active promotion of global cooperation in public health and economic cooperation" as the current president of the G20 and assures its support for the success of the October Rome summit: the global fight against Covid- 19 and the recovery of the world economy are "in a critical phase".
