The head of Frankfurt's business development agency, Oliver Schwebel, promises "many great pictures" for the first Frankfurt Fashion Week (FFW) in his direction.

After the city council decided on Friday to take over the rights to the brand name from Messe Frankfurt, the business development team can now start with the concrete planning.

The financial means for the continuation of the fashion week for 2022, according to the magistrate's proposal, "result from the repayment of Messe Frankfurt GmbH to the city in the amount of 760,000 euros".

Originally, the city and state had provided a total of ten million euros for five fashion weeks in summer and winter in 2021, 2022 and 2023: six million came from the city budget, three million from the state of Hesse, and one million came from Messe Frankfurt.

How the money has been used in detail so far – neither the trade fair nor the city have commented on this question.

In the spirit of “Sustainable Fashion/Design & Art”

After the minimum expenses during the pandemic and the departure of the Premium Group, which was previously responsible for the FFW with the trade fair, Frankfurt is now supposed to be dedicated to "Sustainable Fashion/Design & Art" in the week from June 20th to 26th. stand.

Sevinc Yerli's Fashion Lounge, which presented its program a week ago, plays an important part in this.

Four weeks before the event, what is planned by the economic development agency is apparently not yet completely clear.

Schwebel refers to ongoing negotiations.

According to the magistrate's proposal, 80 events with exhibitions, fashion shows and presentations are to take place throughout the city.

At the same time, the umbrella brand FFW offers a marketing platform for players and visionaries in the regional fashion, design, cultural and creative industries.

There should also be impulses for the retail trade.

A fashion show by Samuel Gärtner on the Eiserner Steg and Anja Gockel in the Frankfurter Hof is also being planned.

The use of empty shops was also discussed - an idea that apparently could not be implemented in the short term.

Part of the event is now to take place on the Union site on Hanauer Landstrasse.

Neonyt, Messe Frankfurt's contribution to Fashion Week, is also organized there.

These include a platform for discussions on the topic of sustainable production and an exhibition with sustainability-oriented brands from the fields of fashion, lifestyle and beauty.

The city is also expecting a great deal of public interest because the Techtextil, Texprocess and Heimtextil trade shows are taking place at the same time on the exhibition grounds.
