A spokesman for former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said today, Saturday, that Mahathir has entered the cardiac care unit at the National Institute of Cardiology.

It is the second time in a month that Mahathir, 96, has been hospitalized and discharged after being described as a successful elective procedure last week.

The National Institute of Cardiology did not mention at the time what procedure the former prime minister, who had suffered more than once from heart problems, underwent.

Mahathir, who is still an active member of Parliament, was admitted to the hospital last December, and was discharged after the doctors were satisfied with the results of the necessary examinations.
