The Austrian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai provides a unique experience for visitors to the global event, through a special room equipped with technology that monitors the movement of people inside, and translates it directly into an audible musical melody.

Thus, the technology allows each person to play their own tune, even if they are not good at playing musical instruments.

The melody differs from one person to another, according to the style and speed of the body's movement, and it rises more as the number of people in the room increases.

The idea of the “musical room” goes back to one of the great musicians in Austria, and is based on installing a camera equipped with electronic sensors, which tracks and monitors movement, and then inserts it into an electronic system that turns it into music.

An official in the pavilion confirmed the integration of six types of musical instruments into the system for programming body movements, to produce the melody as if it was a harmonious song, performed by an integrated orchestra.

This type of music is known as "social music", and the technology can be used on a larger social scale to produce different melodies.

The Austria Pavilion is one of the distinctive suites, as it extends over an area of 2,400 square meters, and consists of 38 bright white conical buildings, located between the wings of Switzerland and China in the “Opportunities” area, which bears the slogan “Unleashing the potential within individuals and societies to shape the future.”
