In the local election on the 1st of next month, a new superintendent of education for a four-year term is elected.

The Chancellor's Election is also important for the future of our children.

Yet, very few voters know who the candidates are and what policies they have.

First of all, this is reporter Park Jae-hyun.

17 superintendents across the country execute the budget of provincial and provincial education offices.

If you add up to 82 trillion won from the main budget and 11 trillion won from the supplementary budget, it will be over 93 trillion won.

The Superintendent of Education also has a powerful authority that holds the personnel rights of 570,000 teachers and staff across the country.

However, not many people know who the candidate for superintendent in the area is.

[Doo-Kyung Choi/Gwanak-Gu, Seoul: (Superintendent’s policy) What I remember is 10 years before the English Village was hosted, and I don’t know after that.]

[Lee Su-mi/Yangcheon-gu, Seoul: I’m usually busy, so I’m always looking for it and choosing it urgently since Election Day is almost approaching. It seems to be...

.]

6 out of 10 in Seoul and 7 out of 10 in Gyeonggi say that they do not know or support the candidate.

Rather than a policy competition, it tends to flow into a confrontation between the conservative and progressive camps.

If there are multiple candidates from the same camp, it may lead to slander, saying that they are preventing unification.

[Cho Jeon-hyuk/Candidate for Seoul Metropolitan Superintendent of Education (Cho Jeon-hyeok-Cho Young-dal transcript): That crazy X-eun (without unifying it) will come out to the end.

It has to be taken into account that there is a crazy X named Park Seon-young.]

[Park Seon-young/Seoul Superintendent of Education: Candidates for the general public can’t even speak aloud and swear words, I don’t think (this candidate) is qualified to be a superintendent itself.]

Learning after Corona Disparities, widening safe meals and care, and school violence are more than just a few challenges the Superintendent must address.

The term of office of the superintendent is 4 years.

We can avoid the stigma of blind elections when we broaden the opportunities for policy discussions and pay more attention to the voters.
