Seven billion 100 million euros is the tidy sum that Bouygues is preparing to pay to buy from Engie its young entity called Equans.
This Engie entity, dedicated to technical services in energy, employs 74,000 people worldwide.
A strategic operation for Engie as well as for Bouygues.

With this sale, Engie is taking an important step in the implementation of its business restructuring strategy.
Equans was also created especially with a view to splitting the technical services activities of the energy giant.
It brings together air conditioning, heating and ventilation, electricity and digital activities.
While two other competitors were in the running, the construction company Eiffage and the American fund Bain Capital, allied with the financier Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière via his holding company Fimalac, “

”announced the French energy giant in a
press
release published overnight from Friday to Saturday, following a board meeting.
This sale to another French group will allow Engie to reduce its net economic debt by 7 billion euros
.
Above all, this should enable it to concentrate on a limited range of activities, in particular renewable energies and networks.

A historic operation for Bouygues
A strategy with which Bercy basically agrees, even if, as the presidential election approaches, the government says it is keeping a watchful eye on employment and sovereignty issues.
For its part, Bouygues is pleased to have embarked on "
the most important operation in its history
".
The activity which will bring together Equans and Bouygues' Energies and Services division will represent a combined turnover of around 16 billion euros and will have close to 100,000 employees.
It will even be “
Bouygues' first business in terms of turnover and number of employees
”.
This sale must be finalized in the second half of 2022, subject to the agreement of the regulatory authorities.
