"Does money buy happiness? Not always, but it certainly isn't harmful."

This is the conclusion of a new US study that found that some of America's happiest cities are also the wealthiest and healthiest in the country.

A study conducted by the Wallet Hub Foundation for the 182 largest cities in America and published by the StudyFinds platform, found that Fremont, California tops the list of the happiest cities in the United States, although it is not the richest or the most income. It ranked 50th in terms of per capita income.

The researchers categorized each site based on several factors, the most important of which are;

The emotional and physical well-being of the population, income and employment rates, the community and the environment, which includes the divorce rate, weather, and crime prevalence.

Fremont ranked first among all US cities when it came to emotional and physical well-being, an indicator that measures local depression rates, life expectancy, food security, and even local participation in sports.

The city also ranked second in community and environmental issues, and ranked 50th in terms of average income.

Is money the key to happiness?

Among the top five happiest cities are Columbia, Maryland, San Francisco, San Jose, and Irvine in California.

What do all these cities have in common?

According to the Walt Hub study, these cities rank in the top five for health and emotional and physical well-being.

Another study conducted by the Spanish University of Barcelona in the year 2021, found that people in societies where there is little money are as satisfied and happy as those who live in rich societies, because they find pleasure in other aspects, the most important of which are family, family and the beauty of nature.

The study presents an important question about the assumptions that economic growth will enhance welfare in poor countries.

The Spanish study's lead author, Dr. Sarah Minaro, explains, "People reported being happy and satisfied in poorer and less-earning places because of spending more time with family and family members, as well as for being in constant contact with the beautiful nature that surrounds them. But with an increase in income, we found that Socio-economic factors generally recognized in industrialized countries also played an important role.

"Overall, our findings suggest that income generation, especially early in life, may actually be detrimental to happiness," she added.

On the other hand, it must be noted that earning a lot of money contributes to making life easier;

San Francisco ranked first when comparing income and employment rates in the Walt Hub study, a measure that examined each city's income growth, poverty rate, job satisfaction, and the number of people earning more than $75,000 a year.

High-income cities also scored high on happiness rates in another previous study, with cities such as Seattle and Washington (second place in income), Charleston and South Carolina (No. 3), and Austin (No. 4), all of which were among the 30 happiest cities in the world. America.

Contentment is an inexhaustible treasure

When comparing the new WaltHub study with another report on "The Neediest Cities in the US", it quickly becomes clear that when people are less demanding and more contented, they are happier. Contentment is another important key to happiness.

In this report, Detroit, Michigan was ranked as the most demanding and least satisfied city in America, and it is not surprising that it was ranked as the least happy American city, where it ranked last (182 out of 182).

Does a happy marriage mean a happy life?

According to a study conducted by the Walt Hub Foundation for the 182 largest cities in America, it was found that there is a relationship between happy marriage and a happy life, as Fremont has the lowest rate of separation or divorce in the country, followed by Pearl City (No. 32 in happiness), and Irvine (No. 5 ), Glendale (No. 18), and San Jose (No. 4) and these five cities have the most stable marriages in the country.

In the same context, a study conducted by the University of Alberta showed that when couples of both sexes were asked about their relationships;

It was found that men's levels of satisfaction are just as important as those of their partners in predicting their future happiness together.
