The United States, Japan and South Korea show willingness to negotiate disarmament with the communist country even after testing new cruise missiles in North Korea.
The latest developments in the People's Republic are a reminder of the importance of close coordination between all three countries, said the American special envoy for North Korea, Sung Kim, after a meeting with his colleagues from South Korea and Japan in Tokyo on Tuesday.
A spokeswoman for the American government had previously stated: "Our attitude has not changed with regard to North Korea, we are ready to get involved."
North Korea conducted long-range cruise missile tests over the weekend.
The state news agency KCNA reported on Monday that the rockets fell into the country's territorial waters after 1,500 kilometers as planned.
The USA, Japan and South Korea want North Korea to renounce nuclear weapons. The communist country has been subject to numerous sanctions for its nuclear ambitions and the development of missiles. North Korea has shown itself to be open to negotiations, but so far sees no basis for this, as the USA has not relaxed the sanctions.
