Oldenburg (dpa / lni) - The state government's plans to ramp up tourism are causing joy and criticism at farms with holiday apartments.

"We are happy that the companies now have a perspective," said the managing director of the Lower Saxony Land Tourism Association, Vivien Ortmann, on Wednesday.

However, many companies cannot understand that bookings are initially only allowed for guests from Lower Saxony.

"If every guest has to come with a negative test, it doesn't matter whether they come from Lower Saxony, Bremen, North Rhine-Westphalia or Hamburg," said Ortmann.

It is questionable whether mobility will be restricted by the rule.

The route from Bremen to the surrounding area of Lower Saxony is much shorter than the route from southern to northern Lower Saxony.

The restriction to guests from Lower Saxony poses challenges for many companies.

«Many guests have rebooked from last year to this year.

That is why the calendars of our holiday farms were well filled over Pentecost », says Ortmann.

Now the companies would have to cancel all non-Lower Saxony guests and hope that Lower Saxony will spontaneously book a holiday home.

With a view to the mandatory corona tests, the question is how they can be organized well.

In rural areas in particular, there are not test stations everywhere.

The country wants to start easing from next Monday with a step-by-step plan.

In districts and large cities with a stable seven-day incidence below 100, tourism should be possible subject to conditions - initially only for guests from Lower Saxony.
